Why Strong-minded People Can't
Quit Smoking No Matter What...

Are you or someone you know trying to quit smoking?

Then today's email could help. What many smokers don't realise is that they don't necessarily need stronger determination or will power to kick smoking. I'll tell you what I think they really need in just a sec. But, first you need to realise the following...

It doesn't matter whether you're a serious smoker or breathe second-hand smoke sometimes. People labels smoking as bad for your health. I think it's more accurate to say that cigarette smoke is bad for you.

You see, cigarette smoke limits the amount of oxygen that reaches our cells and tissues. Your body needs ample amounts of oxygen to operate at its peak level. When your body operates at its peak, you have strong physical vitality and stamina; you find it easier to concentrate; you tend to be more optimistic; and you get along better with other people.

Most people who try to quit smoking fail because smoking gives them more pleasure than most things/people/experiences in their lives. It's hard to quit smoking, or anything for that matter, when you are addicted to it.

The World Health Organization (WHO) says: "In a ranking of the addictiveness of psycho-active drugs, nicotine was determined to be more addictive than heroin [and] cocaine." WOW, even stronger than these super-addictive drugs...!

Cigarette smoke and oxygen don't make a happy couple. In fact smoke kills oxygen, and if you've been smoking for some years, you're probably oxygen starved. If you breathe second-hand smoke, it can be just as bad. Here's why...

Cigarette smoke irritates and even paralyses lung tissue.  Of course your lungs will try to defend themselves, and they do that by producing mucous. The mucous covers the lung tissue and prevents it from doing its job effectively which is to move debris out of the lungs. As debris accumulates, the lungs become damaged, impairing the uptake of oxygen into the circulation.

Cigarette smoke also kills the amount of haemoglobin in the blood. Haemoglobin transports oxygen throughout your body. So, if there is less haemoglobin in your blood, less oxygen is delivered to your cells, organs and tissues.

Now, if that wasn't scary enough, we need to also consider that smoking is a major contributor to heart attack, stroke, emphysema, pneumonia, chronic bronchitis, and various cancers, especially lung cancer. And, in men it contributes to impotence - watch out guys!

The director-general of WHO stated: "A cigarette is. . . a cleverly crafted product that delivers just the right amount of nicotine to keep its user addicted for life before killing the person."

Children who live with parents who smoke are more likely to develop pneumonia or bronchitis in the first two years of life than are children who live in homes where no one smokes. So, if you have kids and are a smoker, think what you're really gambling with.

So, should you quit? Well, imagine the following additional benefits of quitting:

After about 7 days your body will be free of nicotine. After one month your coughing, sinus congestion, fatigue, and shortness of breath will begin to decrease. After five years your risk of dying from lung cancer will have dropped by 50 percent.

Your food will taste better, so you'll enjoy what you eat more. Your breath, body, and clothing will smell better. Your personal image will shoot through the roof! You will save some money too - buying cigarettes can be heavy on your wallet. Best of all, you will feel like a WINNER. You will feel proud that you have overcome this vicious habit that's more addictive then cocaine and heroin.

You need to help your body defend itself against oxygen killers. Cigarette smoke is obviously one of them. Air pollution, stress, and bad eating habits are probably next on the list.

Keep in mind that OXYGEN = LIFE. So, if you want to be healthy, you need to do two things:

  1. Eliminate anything that robs your body of oxygen.
  2. Feed your body with MORE oxygen on a daily basis.
